BIOGRAPHY

In 2007, Romain Virgo made history as the youngest contestant ever to win the Digicel Rising Stars competion (Jamaica's Pop Idol equivalent). Still only a teenager, he would be described as Jamaica's Justin Beiber, being mobbed during live performances.

Armed with hits like 'Mi Caan Sleep', 'Love Doctor' and 'I Wanna Go Home' he ably transformed the TV exposure into 'Street heat' creating much demand to record Dub Plate Specials for the leading Sound Systems around the world.  That street heat in-turn propelled him to a deal with VP Records to release his eponymously titled debut album. Produced by Penthouse Records' supremo, Donovan Germain and Vikings Productions' Dawin and Omar Brown, the album became a mainstay on every Reggae DJ's playlist throughout the year 2010 with tracks like 'Wha Dis Pon Me', 'Be Careful' and 'Dark Skin Girl'. A promotional tour for the album saw favourable debut performances in Canada, America and Europe. Not distracted by the trappings of fame and the demands of touring, Romain Virgo still managed to continue studying for his bachelor's degree in performance at the Edna Manley College of the visual and performing arts in Kingston. Following in the footsteps of inspirations like Alton Ellis, Beres Hammond, Frederick 'Toots' Hibbert and Sanchez, Romain is destined for greatness in the annals of Reggae history.
