Pyceral

Pyceral AKA The Heavy Metal born Maurice Anthony Grant was bitten by the music bug in Jamaica from a very tender age. Growing up in Bull Bay, St. Andrew, he was exposed to various genres of music including reggae and dancehall. There was always a lot of music events taking place in and around his community. It was this experience that inspired him to become a recording artiste.
“When I was a little boy going to school, I used to listen to General Echo. I loved the way he delivered his lyrics on the rhythm. I also listened to other greats such as Lieutenant Stitchie, Major Worries, Shabba Ranks and Admiral Bailey. That inspiration led me to choose music as a youth, and despite many ups and downs, that feeling remains unchanged. Music is my life, I was born with an innate talent to write and record great songs. My musical style is different, and it is something that people always talk about,” said the easygoing deejay.
Eager to start his recording career as soon as Pyceral had graduated from high school, he began visiting various recording studios in Kingston including Penthouse and King Jammys Recording Studios.
“I began developing my deejay skills by performing for my friends at school and community events, and things gradually began to take shape. I went to studios as often as I could and auditioned and networked.”
In the very early days of his career he recorded songs for several legendary producers including Steelie & Clevie.
“Eventually my efforts paid off when I got an opportunity to record a song titled 'Bouncy and Boasy'. But 'Ever Heavy' (Rookie) was my breakthrough single. After that I never looked back.”
The hardworking deejay who's known for his clever lyrical style and lively stage performances has rebranded himself by creating a fresh new style.
One only has to take a listen to Pyceral’s 2025 single, 'It’s Crazy' produced by Delly Ranx on the Pure Music label to realize that he’s ready for greater things.
“I am very happy and pleased with the support that my new song is getting. When Delly and I decided to work on a song, I said that I wanted to do something that will highlight what is happening in the world and also to inspire change in the minds and hearts of people,” said Pyceral.
Armed with a slew of hot new projects, Pyceral is getting ready to take the music world by storm.
“I am working on some new projects with Delly Ranx that will be ready for 2025. I am excited because these songs will be special, a lot of things are happening in the world today and people are sinking more and more into despair. They need songs that will uplift them and give them solutions to their problems”.
