BIOGRAPHY
Justin 'Self Taught Beats' Mckoy is one half of the prolific production and artist development duo, 'First Love music'. It was First Love who assisted in singer/songwriter Ella James, to sign to Matthew Knowles' record label, 'Music World'. Self Taught's production credits include the theme track to MTV Base's 'DJ Takeover', Terri Walker, Bashy, Schorcher, two time MOBO Jazz award winner, Yolanda Brown, Realism, Speech Debelle and Kadija Kamara. Recent remixes include the official remix of Cheryl Cole's chart topping single, 'Parachute', and Ty's 'Heart Is Breaking' (Also Featuring Sway & Jareth).
Self Taught's musical talents span across many genres of music, from Grime to neo soul and break beats. He continues to cement himself within the UK 'Urban' scene and has drawn both attention and approval from the likes of neo soul veteran Omar, Mica Paris, and U.S. Hip-Hop superstar Ludacris. With such a healthy arsenal of accomplishments behind him, Self taught’s repertoire is only likely to grow from strength to strength.
